A Republican Senator Has Repeatedly Failed to Ban Porn. This Time Might Be Different.

60% Informative
Sen. Mike Lee has proposed a bill that would effectively ban all pornography in the U.S. It would make the possession of all media related to the “prurient interest in nudity, sex, or excretion” a criminal act.
The bill is so clumsy and flagrantly unenforceable that in its original text, it seems like it would abolish.
17 states have already blocked porn browsers, and most of them are in the South .
Julian Zelizer: America is in the midst of a significant anti-feminist backlash.
He says Americans might find porn to be socially fraught, but most people don’t favor a flat-out abolition.
Zelizer asks: Is porn actually bad for you or for society?.
If IODA does get off the ground, the next Democratic nominee should run on a pro-masturbation platform.
The idea that it’s an ailment comparable to nicotine and alcohol dependence is not supported by science.
I really wish people could grasp that idea. Surely a nation where everyone is terrified of sex is unsustainable.
