E.A. Hanks , 42 , has written a memoir about growing up the daughter of Samantha Lewes .

The author speculates her mother had multiple mental disorders.

She was born in Burbank , California , but has few memories of the early years in Los Angeles .

Lewes died from lung cancer in 2002 when she was 19 .
