Hollywood actor Mel Gibson failed to get his gun rights restored. Here's why

John Sutter : Mel Gibson's gun rights are not restored after he served his sentence for domestic violence.

He says the White House says it has no policy on restoring rights for offenders who have served their sentences.

Sutter says he believes in a prohibition on gun ownership for those convicted of domestic violence, felony, or misdemeanor.

Debra Saunders : Offenders who have turned their lives around and followed the law should have the same rights as everyone else.

I don't think such men (or women) are going to wait 10 years so they can legally own a gun to abuse others, she says.
