US threatens permanent visa bans on trans athletes based on sex markers

US state department instructs officials worldwide to deny visas to trans athletes attempting to come to the US for sports competitions.

The directive comes after Donald Trump issued an executive order barring trans athletes from competing in women’s sports.

The state department said it would be operating on a “case-by-case basis” with other international bodies who don’t have a transgender ban.
