Judoka Yosef Simin defeated Muslim opponent at European Open in Warsaw , who refused to shake his hand.

Simin then raised his hand in the victory gesture popularized by returned hostage Emily Damari .

Damari was taken hostage during the October 7 , 2023 massacre in which the terrorist group Hamas slaughtered more than 1220 Israeli men, women, and children.
