Britain will increase its military spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027 and 3% by 2034, Prime Minister Starmer says

Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Tuesday that the U.K. would increase its military spending from 2.3% of GDP to 2.5% by 2027 .

The move amounts to the nation’s largest military spending increase since the Cold War .

President Trump has long pushed European allies to spend more on their own militaries and contribute more to NATO 's defense.
