I search longingly for my face in Eighties photography

The 80s : Photographing Britain ’ is a new exhibition at Tate Britain .

It explores the work of photographers, collectives and publications creating radical responses to the turbulent Thatcher years .

The first room is entirely in black and white both visually and ideologically.

We see images of the Grunwick dispute, anti-racist marches, riots in Handsworth and the Aids crisis.
