Kimberly Williams-Paisley opens up about the 'terrifying' medical ordeal that left her unable to speak for nearly two years

Brad Paisley's wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley , underwent throat surgery in August after being unable to speak for nearly two years .

Doctors said her vocal cords were so tight they were barely visible and later discovered that her two vocal cords weren’t touching anymore, a condition known as partial paralysis.

The actress underwent a procedure called medialization laryngoplasty to move the weak left vocal cord closer to the right one.

She said going into the procedure with her eyes open was “beautifully symbolic”.
