Margaret Sullivan : It feels as if Joe Biden has already left the national stage even though he has a month left in his term.

Sullivan : Some major news organizations are giving Biden an extra shove into the wings with coverage that emphasizes what we already know: that Biden , at 82 , is old and less than vibrant.

But even in this diminished state, even amid low approval ratings and criticism, Biden remains himself to a large extent: decent, optimistic, patriotic and empathetic.
