Storm Bert poured out nearly a month ’s worth of rain on the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons ) over Saturday night .

By Sunday , the deluge was surging into the River Taff and through the Welsh valleys, forcing the Taff to burst its banks.

Despite warnings from climate scientists that unrestrained fossil fuel emissions would bring torrential downpours to the UK , the government has done remarkably little to prepare and provide communities with the resources they need to adapt.
