Marlene Dietrich, star of The Blue Angel, lived like a soldier

Marlene Dietrich was an anti-Nazi actress who toured the U.S. during World War II .

She put on more than 500 performances throughout the war on USO tours for Allied troops in North Africa , France , Italy , and Germany .

She was awarded the American Medal of Freedom in 1947 .

Dietrich died in 1992 at age of 90 in Paris .

Some in Germany still considered Marlene Dietrich a traitor for joining Nazi Germany’s enemies in World War II .

But there were many more who, like the women of Stolberg , thought that the only way to be true to Germany was to fight the Nazis as Dietrich did.
