Isaac Saul : There are a lot of excuses not to vote in the U.S. The last time we published one was in 2022 , and today I’m publishing another in the run-up to the 2024 election.
Each time we do this, I update the piece a little bit — hoping to improve the persuasiveness of my argument.
Non-voters tend to be low-income and less educated, and are more likely to be young and to lack party affiliation.
The best way to change them is to vote — for candidates who want to improve how elections are administered or for ballot measures that make it easier for voters to get to the polls.
We could all do a better job of pressuring our current representatives and local governments to make voting less cumbersome.
