The Biden Administration Is Keeping Thousands of Afghans in Limbo Abroad

Two years after fleeing Afghanistan , thousands of Afghans are stuck at U.S. processing sites in the Middle East and the Balkans .

Human rights advocates say the Biden administration refuses to disclose basic information about their status.

They sued the Departments of State , Defense , and Homeland Security for failing to comply with Freedom of Information Act laws.

More than 1.6 million people have left Afghanistan in the last two years .

U.S. officials coordinated the evacuation of 124,000 , including former officials, human rights advocates, and scores of individuals who had worked for the government and military.

Homeland security officials effectively stonewalling the applications of many of those held in confinement abroad.
