IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley's legal team says Sen. Ron Wyden's office falsely claimed the whistleblower had "backed out" of an agreement to meet with the Senate Finance Committee next week.
Emails obtained by The Federalist show the whistleblower’s version of events.
Wyden staffers also refused to commit to an interview the Tuesday after the long Memorial Day weekend.
Rep. Jason Smith, the chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, shouldn’t leave the decision up to Sen. Wyden.
Wyden has proven himself to be putting politics above the public interest.
Smith should sidestep the political posturing and use Section 6103 of the Internal Revenue Code to open the interview of the whistleblower to the relevant Democrat and Republican members.
