Administration proposes to conduct a hail equity impact analysis to study how repeated hailstorms worsen socioeconomic inequity in hail-prone communities, and to use those findings to inform future policies.

The city’s proposed program would also task Mayor Jyoti Gondek with sending a letter to the province advocating for a provincial grant program to help low-income homeowners pay for hail protection upgrades.

Ward 13 Coun. Dan McLean , who provided the sole vote of opposition Thursday , said the city should “stay in our lane”.
