Finnair cancels six flights on Wednesday due to industrial action by Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) The union representing ground staff has called a series of four-hour work stoppages throughout the spring and early summer that have led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights.
The two sides have been locked in talks over a new collective agreement since January , with the level of pay increases believed to be the main sticking point.
The large-scale cancellation of flights by Finnair throughout spring has affected an estimated 200,000 passengers.
However, in many cases, the passenger has to pay for food and drinks from their own pocket while they wait — and sometimes must even shell out for the overnight stay. If this happens, the passenger is advised to keep all the receipts and demand the airline reimburse them for the costs incurred. If a customer's flight is significantly delayed, they may be liable to receive standard compensation — which ranges from 250 to 600 euros, depending on the length of the flight and the length of the delay..
