Taurine is an amino acid found in some foods and also made by the human body.

It has been shown to slow aging in animals when given as a supplement.

But a new study has raised questions about taurine's relationship to aging.

Previous studies have found that circulating amino acid declines with age.

But the new study found that the levels didn't decline with age; instead, it increased or stayed stable.

Study co-author Rafael de Cabo : "It's not a reliable biomarker of anything yet" Still, given that there are existing studies that suggest taurine plays some part in aging, scientists still see value in studying it further.

For now, Yadav said there isn't clinical evidence yet to support taking tauine for anti-aging purposes.
