B.C. premier David Eby has been hard pressed to explain the urgency of Bill 15 .
Bill allows cabinet to expedite approval of “provincially significant” projects in mining and other sectors.
Indigenous and other leaders are calling for the government to delay passage to allow for proper consultations.
Eby: "There's no connection between Bill 15 and today 's announcement".
The rationale, I gather, was to make the point that this is a government bent on getting things done. “There will be tough choices to make along the way,” said Eby . “We must be ready to do things differently. We won’t retreat when things are hard.” And so on. But there was no actual news about projects approved or tough choices made. The result was a non-event, staged by a government that confuses the difference between talking about getting things done and actually doing them..
