Shabana Mahmood considers chemical castration for serious sex offenders

68% Informative
Lord chancellor Shabana Mahmood is considering mandatory castration for sex offenders.
She is also considering releasing and tagging killers and rapists after they have served half of their sentence.
Mahmood expected to address the Commons on Thursday to outline which measures she will accept in a major overhaul of criminal justice.
She has also accepted that well-behaved prisoners should be released on tag after serving a third of their sentences.
Robert Jenrick , the shadow justice secretary, said: “By scrapping short prison sentences Starmer is effectively decriminalising crimes like burglary, theft and assault. This is a gift to criminals who will be free to offend with impunity.”.
