Jesse Itzler , a die-hard Knicks fan, dreamed of writing the team's theme song in 1993 .

The rising rapper, who went by the stage name Jesse Jaymes in the early 90s , knew this was his one shot.

At 23 , he scored a meeting with Knicks bigwigs and the short demo won them over.

Itzler 's lifelong love affair with the Knicks hasn’t faded.

“A true sports fan is with a team through the good and the bad,” he said.

This season ’s team echoes the vibes of the Knicks back in the day , when “Go New York” became “the rallying cry of the 90s ”.
