The District 2 baseball playoffs begin this week .

The seedings are based on a power rankings formula, which is why a team with a better record could be seeded lower.

Pittston Area is the only unbeaten team in District 2 .

Dallas won the last two D2-4A championships, but the bump up to Class 5A means a tougher path.

Dunmore ( 17-3 ), Riverside ( 15-5 ), Lake-Lehman ( 12-8) and Wyoming Seminary ( 13-6 ) are the only WVC teams in the D2 -3A tournament.

Scranton Prep ( 8-11-11 ) and Susquehanna Prep have a good chance of a rematch of last year’s championship game.

However, the Preppers have three experienced seniors in Tommy Horvat , Mike Kranyak and Nick Pantages all hitting over300. Susquehanna had a game Saturday cancelled, although the the result wouldn’t have impacted the seedings..
