Electric vehicle sales in B.C. dropped 44 per cent in March compared to the same time last year .
The provincial government has stopped rebating electric vehicle rebates for up to $4,000 off the cost of eligible vehicles.
The province has legislatively mandated EV targets, which require 90 per cent of all new vehicles sold in 2030 and 100 per cent by 2035 to be zero emission.
B.C. is on track to meet its target of 26 per cent new vehicles being zero -emission by 2026 .
The federal government announced the end of their own rebate program in January , which had offered up to $5,000 .
The government says there are now over 7,000 charging stations around the province.
