Brooke Strauss ran the fastest girls mile time in state history Friday night at the Bay State Running Elite Mile at the New Hampshire Distance Festival at Souhegan High School in Amherst , N.H. Strauss , who is heading to run at UConn in the fall , won the race in 4:39.88 , beating the previous best time by Newington ’s Katie Bohlke , who ran a 4:42.69 mile .
