Shelter, a cool little lounge in Victoria Park , has released a unique cocktail menu based on the theory of active aroma compounds.

Active aroma compounds are essentially molecules found in food (or beverages) that create a specific taste or smell and are often described as the “building blocks of flavour” Shelter is far from the only bar in Calgary using kitchen science to create premium sips.

Calgary had three bars on the list with Missy’s # 52 , Proof at # 58 , and Shelter at # 99 .

The rest of the list detailing the top 50 bars in North America will be announced at a special event next week in Vancouver .

The list is published by the same organization that names the World 's 50 Best Restaurants every year .
