Scientists reveal how the stone sealing Jesus ' tomb COULD have been moved - including during an earthquake.
According to the gospel of Matthew , there were two large earthquakes around the time of Jesus ' death and resurrection.
Geologists from the German Research Center for Geophysics studied cores of soil taken from the Dead Sea to look for historical seismic activity.
They found evidence of a large earthquake in 31 BC and a smaller quake between 26 and 36 AD .
Mr Eisenberg claims Jesus only fainted on the cross and was taken to the tomb after being mistakenly pronounced dead.
Having survived his injuries, Jesus could have then recovered for long enough to escape the tomb - creating the illusion he had risen from the dead.
But experts unanimously agree that the swoon theory is a fabrication.
