Pa. Game Commission approves 1.3 million antlerless tags, extends firearms opportunities

Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners approved 126,000 more antlerless deer permits than last year .
An extended firearms deer season is added for WMU 4C due to Chronic Wasting Disease.
The statewide archery bear season is shortened from three weeks to one week .
For snowshoe hares, there will be a season limit of three hares per hunter.
Antlerless licenses for all WMUs will be guaranteed to Pennsylvania residents.
The first round of antlerless license sales opens to nonresidents July 7 .
All elk licenses will be awarded by lottery, and hunters must apply separately for all seasons they wish to hunt.
Spring gobbler (bearded bird only): Special season for eligible junior hunters, with required license, and mentored hunters 16 and under April 25, 2026 .
Deer, archery (antlered and antlerless) statewide: Oct. 4 -Nov. 15 ; Sunday, Nov. 16 ; Nov. 17-21 and Dec. 26-Jan. 19 .
Hunting permitted on military bases established by the Department of the U.S. Army at the Letterkenny Army Depot .
