Lebanese president says Hezbollah disarmament will not come through ’force’

President Joseph Aoun says the disarmament of Hezbollah will come through negotiations as part of a national defence strategy and not through “force” Aoun : “Civil peace is a red line for me.” Prime Minister Nawaf Salam leads a high-level ministerial delegation to Syria for talks with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa .

The report, which wasn’t confirmed by the authorities, followed Russian media claims that the interim government had asked Jaafari , a longtime ally of former Syrian president Bashar Assad , to return to Damascus . Jaafari later denied asking for asylum in an interview with RIA Novosti , another Russian state news agency..
