'If they don't know, that's really scary:' B.C. Conservatives take aim at NDP over loss of carbon tax revenue

71% Informative
B.C. Finance Minister Brenda Bailey defends her handling of the budget after the Conservatives question why she included carbon tax revenue in her projections.
Tory finance critic Peter Milobar accused the NDP of inflating their own budget and said debates on budgets for individual ministries should be paused until it’s announced what programs and services will be cut to make up for the revenue shortfall.
Bailey said an efficiency review is now underway to determine how to make-up the $1.8 billion hole the scrapping of the tax has created in the government’s revenue.
Milobar said the fact Bailey can’t answer whether the $1.8 billion will be addressed through “direct service cuts in the immediate time or whether it gets directly added to our deficit” Bailey , for her part, said at least the NDP are committed to protecting B.C. from U.S. tariff threats.
