Pedestrian 'Safety City' booted for water treatment plant work

70% Informative
Calgary Safety Council's "Safety City" program teaches children about pedestrian safety.
The city-owned site will be vacated to help accommodate the City of Calgary’s Glenmore Water Treatment Plant expansion.
Safety City's footprint will be used by Water Services on a permanent basis going forward, not for temporary functions.
The organization appealed to the city to stay at the site while construction was underway.
“Our objective in teaching this pedestrian safety to young children, was something that we would hope would save lives,” said Millar . “This education in pedestrian safety is getting close to as important as learning math early.” Calgary had 13 pedestrian collisions in 2024 , up from four the year prior..
