Saturn 's largest moon, Titan , may be able to support only a minuscule amount of biomass, if life exists on the moon.

Titan 's subsurface ocean, estimated to be as deep as about 300 miles , may support lifeforms that consume organic material.

Titan is the target for future exploration via NASA 's Dragonfly mission.

"We conclude that Titan 's uniquely rich organic inventory may not be available to play the role in the moon's habitability to the extent one might intuitively think," Affholder said.

The International Space Science Institute in Bern , Switzerland , funded the research.
