What Lee Cummard said about becoming the new women's basketball coach at BYU

Lee Cummard is the new head coach of the BYU women's basketball team.
Cummard was named interim head coach after Amber Whiting parted ways with the program on March 8 .
The Cougars ' athletic director removed Cummard ’s interim tag from the interim tag Monday .
“Excellence will be the expectation,” Cummard said in his introductory address.
Cummard played for the Flash during the 2009-10 campaign, when Cummard was one of the Flash ’s assistant coaches.
Cummard says he envisions the program looking like how he played — “scrappy, tough, work ethic there.” The most crucial recruiting effort for Cummard will be that of keeping Cougars star guard Delaney Gibb in Provo .
The Utah Grizzlies star says basketball can be applied to life.
“You can tell a lot about a player based on the way they play and how they’re going to do in their next endeavor,” he said.
