Montana pharmacies say they're getting squeezed by pharmacy benefit managers

The six largest PBMs manage more than 90% of the nation’s drug sales.

At least 20 states have passed laws regulating PBM payments to pharmacies.

The bill would set a price floor that PBMs must pay pharmacies for each prescription.

Montana pharmacies say they get 106% of the National Average Drug Acquisition Cost , or NADAC .

The bill also requires changes in PBM business practices that pharmacies say benefit PBMs and make it harder for independent pharmacies to stay in business.

PBM and health plan lobbyists have attacked the bill for its breadth and detail, saying it's so extensive that nobody knows how it may affect prescription-drug markets and prices in Montana .
