73% Informative
Former B.C. premier Christy Clark was rejected by the Liberals and former finance minister Mike de Jong .
Anita Huberman , former CEO of the Surrey Board of Trade , also turned away by the Conservatives .
Clark 's candidacy had faced local opposition from party members who were concerned by her past affiliations with the Conservatives , a revelation that helped sink her potential bid to be leader.
The Greens , however, providing details on their vetting process with a communications official outlining how a candidate is first asked a series of questions while an external third party vets their social media activity. Rod Leggett , senior adviser for strategic communications, said the party then does a followup interview with the applicant to discuss any flags or issues that may have surfaced. “We can also draw on the party’s corporate and institutional knowledge in making an assessment. Finally, a recommendation to recommend or reject an applicant is made to the federal council. The final decision rests with them.”.
