New Evidence Links Microplastics with Chronic Disease

Places with higher concentrations of microplastics see higher rates of hypertension, diabetes, stroke and other noncommunicable diseases.
Researchers said the new findings add to a small but growing body of evidence that microplastic pollution represents an emerging health threat.
The presence of microplastics in plaques in the heart's arteries could play a role in the onset or exacerbation of serious heart problems.
