How the resurgence of the Liberals and the fall of the NDP complicates federal election picture in B.C.

75% Informative
Experts say the key thing to watch in B.C. will be the scale of the Liberal ’s resurgence under Mark Carney and whether voters coalesce around the two main parties in an attempt to avoid vote-splitting, thus leading to a collapse of the NDP .
The NDP are projected to be reduced to one seat with only incumbent Jenny Kwan expected to hold on in Vancouver East .
Royal Roads professor David Black said the upswing in Conservative fortunes on Vancouver Island isn’t exactly surprising as the party — first known as Reform and then Alliance — did well in the region in the 90s and early 2000s .
Black believes vote splitting will determine the fate of ridings like Victoria and Saanich-Gulf Islands .
He said significant vote splitting on the left among the NDP, Liberals and even the Greens could help the Conservatives .
