Sweden's Massive €4 Billion Gigafactory is Revolutionizing the Battery Industry
63% Informative
North Volt ET is a gigafactory dedicated to producing sustainable lithium ion batteries for electric vehicles.
The facility is powered entirely by renewable energy, mainly hydro and wind power, ensuring the batteries produced here have a minimal carbon footprint.
Facility is designed to include cutting edge recycling technology, ensuring a sustainable life cycle for its batteries.
The majority of chemical processing occurs upstream where active cathode material is produced.
This material, containing nickel, manganese, cobalt and lithium undergoes high temperature treatment, drying and filtering to create a fine powder.
This powder is then layered onto aluminum foils to create cathode electrodes.
By using recycled materials, Revolt ATS cuts carbon footprint of battery production by 70% compared to using freshly mined materials.
