Natasha Goodall and Jordan Williams say they were shocked when their pets were seized.

Their American bulldog Ralph was like a child ripped away from them before police confirmed he was not an XL bully.

The XL bully ban was introduced in Wales and England on 1 February 2024 .

It is now a criminal offence to own a dog without an exemption certificate.

Police said measures were put in place to reduce the XL bully population.

Veterinary expert Mike Jessop said larger dogs can be more volatile than average dogs.

The XL bully is a cross of four different dogs, including the American Pit Bull Terrier.

Mr Jessop , 64 , said the problem is due to genetics, such breeds are more likely to be "triggered into an attack mode".
