Delta MP Carla Qualtrough said the federal government had put “ hundreds of millions of dollars ” on the table last summer for the replacement of the Massey Tunnel .
B.C. has been pushing for Ottawa to fund 50 per cent of the project, which would be just over $2 billion .
The project is expected to get underway next year with a projected cost of $4.15 billion .
“The province is talking a lot right now about securing our economic independence, about working on a Canada -wide strategy to diversify our exports, to have less reliance on the United States and more exports out to the Asia-Pacific market,” said Kruger . “It’s going to be really tough to get there when we have goods that are stuck every single day in this massive gridlock, unable to get to Delta Port and out to the Asia-Pacific .”.
