Binghamton High School wins New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class AA boys basketball championship game.
Zubayr Griffin closes a 2,000 -point plus high school career by scoring 40 to help the Patriots to a 75-61 , double-overtime triumph over Niskayuna .
"We were doing this for the whole city," says senior Yusri Razzaq , who had 10 points and seven rebounds.
"He was unbelievable in the biggest moment on the biggest stage," says coach Duncan Paddick .
The Patriots went 8 -for-8 from the foul line in the final 40 seconds .
Binghamton took the lead for good when Griffin fed Shawn Remplet for a layup.
Griffin then hit a 3 -pointer for a 65 -60 advantage, followed by a hoop from Abu with 1:07 to go.
