Leaked report details investigation into 'baseless' allegations of a Vancouver police coverup

66% Informative
Two Vancouver police constables were under investigation for discreditable conduct and neglect of duty after public allegations of a coverup involving the mayor.
The investigation involved three police forces and a police oversight body.
It started after a November 2023 tweet by real estate investor Alex G. Tsakumis , who wrote that Mayor Ken Sim “got away with being pulled over drunk” Abbotsford Police Chief Colin Watson cleared the officers of misconduct.
Sim called the rumours of a drunk-driving incident “ridiculous” Rumours like this discourage good people from running for public office, Sim said.
Sim said he could not discuss details of Allam 's departure from city hall, but said: “I can emphatically deny that Mr. Allam was terminated for refusing to cover up an allegation”.
