REVIEW: New ‘Snow White’ is surprisingly entertaining

The new “ Snow White ” is a restaged amplification of Walt ’s original 1937 feature-animation breakthrough.
The lead actress, Rachel Zegler , is of Colombian Polish descent, which has led to accusations of (gasp) multiculturalism.
The screenplay by Erin Cressida Wilson pulls off well, ransacking the various chests of classic fairy tales for ways to flesh out the story.
The switch from animation to live action carries its own pitfalls, not least of all in suspension of disbelief.
Dopey has been Alfred E. Neuman -ized into a young lad whose voice belongs to the talented Andrew Barth Feldman , a onetime Evan Hansen .
How Snow White wears that same yellow skirt for weeks in the forest without it becoming filthy is anyone’s guess.
