French Researcher Denied Entry to U.S. for Disliking Trump: Report

68% Informative
A French researcher was denied entry to the U.S. over text messages on his phone that were critical of President Donald Trump .
An FBI investigation was reportedly launched into the researcher, who hasn’t been identified publicly.
The FBI would not confirm or deny that it had launched an investigation into the scientist.
CBP , who reportedly seized the researcher’s devices, gave a vague statement to Gizmodo .
ICE policy says a person can be deemed a gang member if any officer notes two “ Gang Membership Identification Criteria’s” Criteria: A tattoo modeled off the Real Madrid logo and a picture from social media of him throwing the horns. That was it! Needless to say, these cases will make researchers think long and hard about whether it's safe to visit the U.S. with Trump in power.
