Astronauts Sunita "Suni" Williams and Barry "Butch" Wilmore were stranded on the International Space Station for nine months .

They were scheduled to return to Earth on March 19, 2025 , after a malfunctioning Boeing Starliner capsule.

Elon Musk and President Trump have repeatedly claimed Biden left them stranded.

NASA documents show that the plan to get Williams and Wilmore home had been in discussion as early as August 2024.

President Trump ordered NASA and SpaceX to pull the schedule a month earlier .
