There was less ice at Weed Lake by Langdon but there always seems to be a bit of open water there even in the deepest cold.
At McGregor Lake folks were fishing through the ice that still covered the water as far as I could see but, wisely, no one had driven out onto it.
Among them were wigeons and pintails, and finally, a few swans were way out on the edge of the ice.
There were Canada geese flying everywhere as I left the lake behind and headed back toward town.
Fields held flocks of geese , pintails and wigeons, so many that they outnumbered even the mallards.
Keho Lake was frozen but there was open water out in the middle but very little along the shore.
The open water is coming and the ice is receding more and more every day.
