Opinion: Survivors bear brunt of Alberta's sexual assault centre cuts

67% Informative
Mary Jane James : Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton was grappling with 18-month waitlist for counselling services.
In 2023 , SACE was struggling to reduce the waitlist to three to four months .
In late 2024 , however, we were informed that the additional funding would not be renewed.
The funding shortfall we are facing will result in the loss of at least 16 staff members, along with programs outside of our core services.
