House Passes Bill to Avert Government Shutdown
65% Informative
House Republicans largely voted on Tuesday evening to pass a short term bill to keep the government open and funded through the end of September .
The bill would fund the government at current funding levels with several exceptions, and for that reason, House Democrats , with the exception of one , opposed the legislation.
The US Senate now faces the question of whether they should pass the legislation, which would need some Democratic support in order to satisfy Senate rules or risk the possibility of a government shutdown being blamed on Democrats .
