Clashes in Syria's coastal region between Assad loyalists and government forces kill more than 70

66% Informative
Clashes between security forces and gunmen loyal to ousted President Assad in Syria 's coastal region have killed more than 70 people, a war monitor says.
It was the worst violence since Assad ’s regime was toppled in early December by insurgent groups led by the Islamist Hayat Tahrir al-Sham .
Damascus sent reinforcements to the coastal cities of Latakia and Tartus overnight , trying to get the situation under control.
Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Oncu Keceli warned that the rising violence in and around Latakia could “undermine efforts to lead Syria into the future in unity and solidarity” He stressed that “such provocations must not be allowed to become a threat to peace in Syria and the region”.
