The F86 Sabre was the first US aircraft to break the sound barrier when it exceeded Mach One in a shallow dive.

The single crewman, jet powered warplane created so much havoc that the North Korean pilots didn't know what hit them.

The aircraft would later evolve into several variants, the F86D , also dubbed the Sabre Dog, earning legendary status after radically changing its weapons technology.

The F80 Sixes achieved an impressive 14 to one KD ratio during the Korean War .

The F86D Sabre was based on an extensive rework of the a model airframe to produce the desired all weather interceptor and counter the Soviet bomber threats of the 1950 's.

The aircraft was powered by one General Electric J47GE17B turbojet engine that provided over 7500 lbs of thrust and it's maximum take off weight was 19,950 lbs.

Ultimately, the Sabre Dog would be best remembered for becoming the first American aircraft that replaced a second crewman for a highly advanced electronic system and the standard gun armament in favour of air to air missiles.
