Last month was the third warmest February on RECORD

Global average surface air temperatures hit a balmy 13.36C ( 56F ), making the month 0.63C ( 1.13F ) hotter than the average for 1991 to 2020 .
February was also 1.59C ( 2.86F ) above the 'pre-industrial' average for 1850-1900 .
This is the 19th month out of the last 20 to exceed the temperature threshold set out in the Paris Agreement .
The data also shows that warmer weather around the globe made this winter the second hottest on record.
Antarctic sea ice extent may have reached its annual minimum at the end of the month .
Scientists will need to wait until March to confirm whether this was the lowest point of the year .
Global average sea temperature for February reached 20.88C (69.58F) This is the second -highest value on record for the month and 0.18C ( 0.32F ) below the February 2024 record.
