Most of Cremona ’s council has resigned after Municipal Affairs Minister Ric McIver appointed an official administrator to oversee it.
On Monday , three of the village's five councillors stepped down, saying the appointment of Doug Lagore to supervise council renders them unable to carry out their tasks.
Supporters of the councillors who resigned noted they were elected in two byelections over the past year .
On Tuesday , a spokesman for McIver ’s office noted Cremona council has now lost quorum twice in six months , just one indication something had to be done and that local lawmakers would still have authority even with an OA ’s supervision. “The elected council would have continued making decisions, and the appointed OA would have only intervened if serious concerns of irregular or improper governance arose,” Kevin Lee said in an email..
